SMALL FORAYS (BATTLES):-

GAZWA ZAAT AL-RAQQA:-

The Quraysh and the Jews openly incited all the tribes between Madinah and Makkah against the Muslims, as a result of which many tribes were busy preparing to attack the Muslims. In Jamadi al-Awwal 4 A.H., Banu Muharrib and Banu Tha’labah, a branch of the Ghatfan tribe, prepared a joint army to attack Madinah when the Messenger of Allah, (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), was informed about it, he took an army of four hundred Companions and went out to fight. In this campaign, the Companions had very few mounts, due to injuries from walking, they had to tie bandages on their feet, hence the name Zaat al-Raqqa (Striped) Campaign. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stayed at the foot of a mountain, the enemy’s army fled after seeing the strength of the Muslims. Prophet (peace be upon him) and his Companions returned to Medina with the booty without fighting.

SECOND BATTLE OF BADR:-

Abu Sufyan announced at the time of his return from the Battle of Uhud that next year we will fight against you in Badr. As promised, the Messenger of Allah,( peace be upon him), made Abdullah bin Rawaha the leader of Madinah and left for Badr with fifteen hundred companions in Shaban 4 AH. After hearing the news of the advance of the Muslims, Abu Sufyan reluctantly left Makkah with an army of 2,000. When the number of the Muslim army was known on reaching the place of “Mar-Dhahran”, He returned on the pretext that there was a famine in Makkah this year, and he could not bring with him the necessary war weapons and supplies. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) waited for them in Badr for eight days. During that time, the Companions continued to make a profit by trading in the market of Badr, and after the appointed time, they returned to Madinah in good health.

THE BATTLE OF DUMAT AL-JANDAL:-

On the 25th of Rabi al-Awwal 5 AH, the Messenger of Allah, (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), was informed that the polytheist tribes of Dumat al-Jandal, near the border of Syria, were robbing the caravans and looting the goods of the passers-by. It was also learned that they were planning to attack Madinah. Because of this news, Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) made Saba’ bin Arfata Ghaffari the Leader of Madinah and despite the extreme heat, desert travel, and unfavorable conditions, he took an army of 1,000 companions. Muslims used to travel at night and rest during the day due to the intense heat. After completing ten stages, the Companions reached Dumat al-Jandal and stayed. In the world of Dumat fled with the governor of Al-Jandal, and he returned to Madinah without fighting with his Companions. The enemy was afraid of Prophet Muhammad (may Allah peace and blessings upon him) and fled with the governor of Dumat al-Jandal in panic. Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) returned to Madinah with his companions without fighting.
