HAZRAT YUNUS (PEACE BE UPON HIM): -
Hazrat Yunus (peace be upon him) is one of the chosen
prophets and prophets of Bani Israel. He was born in the famous city of Iraq “Nineveh”.
Allah Almighty made him a prophet to guide this city, this nation had fallen
into disbelief and polytheism. You continued inviting them to worship one Allah
for a long time, but they did not accept your invitation and persisted in
disbelief and polytheism and ridiculed you. When this usually started to
happen, Hazrat Yunus (peace be upon him) prayed for divine punishment and
departed from there. After your departure from the settlement, signs of divine
punishment began to appear on the nation. The nation became convinced that
Hazrat Yunus (peace be upon him) was a true prophet of Allah. Therefore, all
the people of the nation and their chiefs gathered in a field outside the
settlement and wept bitterly and asked for forgiveness for their sins and
repented from polytheism. Allah accepted their repentance and saved them from
punishment.
HAZRAT YUNUS (PEACE BE UPON HIM) IN THE BELLY OF A FISH: -
Hazrat Yunus (peace be upon him) got angry with his people
and left the town and reached the bank of Euphrates river and boarded a boat.
On the way, the boat was hit by stormy waves and there were signs of the boat
sinking, so the boatmen decided to throw a person into the river according to
their belief. A lot was drawn for this, then the name of Hazrat Yunus (peace be
upon him) came out. In this way, lots were drawn three times and three times
the name of Hazrat Yunus (peace be upon him) came out. So he were thrown into
the sea, at which time a big fish swallowed them, then he realized that
it was not proper for him to leave the town without waiting for Allah’s order.
So he started asking for forgiveness in the belly of the fish and said: “My
Lord! There is no god but You, You are pure. Indeed, I have wronged myself.”
Allah accepted and the fish dropped him on the bank of the river. When he
recovered, he went to his people by Allah’s command. The people were very happy
to see him and accepted Islam at his hand.
