SPREAD OF ISLAM IN MEDINA: -
Most of the population in Medina belonged to the tribes of Aus and Khazraj, these people were polytheists and idolaters. Jews also lived with them. When the Jews used to fight against the tribes of Aus and Khazraj, the Jews used to say that soon the last prophet will be sent, We will follow them and join them in destroying you like “the people of Aad’’ and “the people of Aram’’. When the Hajj season came, about six people from the Khazraj tribe came to Makkah. It was the eleventh year of the prophethood. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) visited him, invited him to Islam and recited the verses of the Qur’an. These people recognized him (PBUH) as soon as they saw him (PBUH) and looked at each other and said: By God! He is the same prophet that the Jews used to mention. Lest the Jews surpass us in attaining this blessing. Then they accepted Islam and said to the Holy Prophet that there is an equal fight between us and the Jews; If you allow, then go there and mention the religion of Islam so that if those people accept this religion, then fighting will end forever and love will arise between them (Because the foundation of this religion is based on mutual love and brotherhood) the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave them permission. He returned and reached Madinah, wherever he sat in the assembly, he used to mention the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The effect of this was that there was no house left in Madinah where religion did not reach.
