THE FIRST PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO UQBAH: -

Uqbah is the name of a gorge near Mina, where six people from Madinah came and accepted Islam in 11 Nabavi, and twelve people came to meet the Messenger of Allah ï·º and pledge allegiance in the second year of 12 Nabavi. Pledge of Allegiance on the blessed hand of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to avoid theft, adultery and murder of children, to obey and follow him in good words and to worship one Allah. This is called “Bay’at Uqbah Olaa (The first pledge of allegiance to Uqbah)”. When these people intended to return, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent Musab bin Umayr (may Allah be pleased with him) with them to teach them the Qur’an, teach Islam and explain religious issues. On reaching Medina, he stayed at the house of Asad bin Zarara. He used to invite people to Islam and make Muslims pray. The people of Madinah used to call him “Al-Muqri” (the teacher who teaches), because of his invitation and preaching, leaders like Saad bin Mu’adh and Usayd bin Hudir accepted Islam.

SECOND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO UQBAH: -

In Madinah, with the invitation of Hazrat Musab bin Umayr and the efforts of the Muslims, Islam and the Holy Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) were mentioned in every house. 13 In the Nabavi, Musab bin Umayr (RA) came to Makkah with a group of more than 70 Muslims for the purpose of performing Hajj. Along with the Muslims, there were polytheists from the tribe of Aus and Khazraj. The Messenger of Allah, (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), along with his uncle Hazrat Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, came to the gorge called Uqbah and met the Muslims at night. Hazrat Abbas said to the Muslim community: Muhammad, (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), is highly respected in his nation and we care about his safety. They want to come here, it is better if you promise to protect them completely, otherwise give a clear answer. Ansar said: We listened to you. Now the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) should also say something. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) made them eager to convert to Islam by reciting the Qur’an. Then he (PBUH) said: We want you to protect our companions by sheltering them and follow me in all situations of sorrow and grief, comfort and ease, hardship and wealth.  Hearing this advice, the Ansar gladly agreed and swore allegiance to the Prophet (PBUH), then made twelve of them responsible for the invitation and propagation of Islam.
