COMPANIONS OF SAFA: -
When the Prophet’s Mosque was built, a platform was built on
one side of it, called Safa. This place was the center of Islamic education and
training and propagation and guidance. The Companions, may Allah be pleased
with them, used to live here, they are called "Companions of Safa." These people
had devoted their lives to worshiping Allah, serving the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) and learning the Qur’an. They had neither a home nor a
business. Whenever food came to him, he would send it to these people and
sometimes he himself would sit with them and eat. Teachers were appointed for
their education, from whom they used to learn the Holy Qur’an and acquire
knowledge of religion. That is why most of the Companions among them were the
best reciters of the Qur’an. If there was a need to send someone for the
propagation and education of Islam, they were sent to one of the Companions.
Hazrat Abu Huraira (Radi Allahu Anhu) who was the Jalil-ul-Qadr Companion of
the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) and the most narrator of hadith was also among
his Companions.
