THE PEOPLE OF SABA: -
In Yemen, between two mountains, the “Nation of Saba”
lived in a city called Ma’rib, the kings here built a very strong dam (dam)
between these two mountains, which was known as “Sadi’ Ma’rib”. This
dam held back the water coming from the mountains on both the north and south
sides, and because of this water, on both sides of their capital city of Ma'rib,
for about three hundred square miles, there were beautiful gardens, green
fields, fragrant flowers everywhere. And there were excellent fruit trees
planted. The people of Saba followed the commandments of Allah for a while, but
then they fell into these blessings and forgot Allah and fell into disbelief
and disobedience. Allah corrected them. Therefore, many prophets were sent, but
these people did not accept the invitation of any prophet and they continued to
go astray and disobey Allah Almighty. Finally, Allah Almighty sent down
punishment on these people and on the strong dam (dam) they were Proud, broke
it and ruined the whole city, gardens and fields. Allah Almighty mentions them
in the Qur’an and said: “We gave this reward for (these people’s) disbelief
and disobedience, and We reward disbelief and disobedience in the same way.” {Surah
Saba: - 17}
Quranic Ayah Related to Article: -
There was for [the tribe
of] Saba’ in their dwelling place a sign: two [fields of] gardens on the right
and on the left. [They were told], “Eat from the provisions of your Lord and be
grateful to Him. A good land [have you], and a forgiving Lord.”

But they turned away
[refusing], so We sent upon them the flood of the dam, and We replaced their
two [fields of] gardens with gardens of bitter fruit, tamarisks and something
of sparse lote trees.
