HAZRAT YAHYA (PEACE BE UPON HIM): -
Hazrat Yahya (peace be upon him) was the son of Hazrat Zakariya
(peace be upon him) and a prophet of Allah, he was a leader of good people and
unparalleled in piety and asceticism. Allah had blessed him with knowledge and
wisdom from his childhood. He was not married, but despite that, no thought of
sin arose in his heart, he used to cry a lot out of fear of Allah. Allah the
Almighty gave him and his nation only the knowledge of worshiping Him,
observing prayer and fasting, giving charity, and mentioning it frequently. So
he gathered his people in Bait al-Maqdis and recited this message of
Allah. The main task of his life was to give good news of the coming of Hazrat
Isa (peace be upon him) and to pave the way for growth and guidance. The
growing popularity of the Jewish people could not bear it and they martyred
this great prophet by arguing and destroyed their world and the hereafter with
their own hands.

So the angels called him
while he was standing in prayer in the chamber, “Indeed, Allah gives you good
tidings of Yahya, confirming a word from Allah and [who will be] honorable,
abstaining [from women], and a prophet from among the righteous.”
